Founded in August of 2019 by Anup Nadesan and Joseph Bonfiglio, MyGroundStrokes (MGS) is a youth-led nonprofit initiative built to provide inclusive tennis-based instruction to children with special needs and financial hardship.
With the support of East Suburban Citizens Advocacy (ESCA), The Rashid Hassan Elite Tennis Academy (RHETA), and our volunteers, MGS was able to successfully launch with numerous enthusiastic students ready to rock the courts!
What We Do
In partnership with RHETA and ESCA, MyGroundStrokes is offered to participants qualified by ESCA at no cost and facilitated by teen volunteers mainly from RHETA.
We hope to slowly introduce the MyGroundStrokes program to our community and continue to conduct the initial training sessions. But as our program grows we hope to expand into other cites in order to try and bring this opportunity to as many children with special needs as possible.
Under the guidance of RHETA, MGS Founders will choose future youth facilitators and volunteers based on characteristics like proven leadership, passion for inclusion and a team focused mentality, as well as a desire to give back.
We hope to build a strong moral foundation for these kids as well has a hard-working mentality as they strive to do bigger and better things.
MGS STUDENTS will receive:
• 1-hour tennis clinic each week
• Rackets and balls for training
• Water and snack at the end of each session
Pre-Requisite: Students must be qualified and registered with ESCA
